Toxic Relationship Recovery

About

Hi, I’m Jacqueline

I help women recover from a toxic relationship with a partner, family member, friend or work colleague.

If you’re a smart, intelligent and capable person (well most of the time) and who, on the outside, look as if you have it all, but on the inside feel as if you’re falling apart, you’ve come to the right place.

Maybe you are-

  • Living with, trying to leave or recovering from a toxic relationship.

  • Sick and tired of one-sided relationships and trying to please people who refuse to be pleased.

  • Have got into the habit of nightly drinking and worried you may have a problem.

  • Drink to cope with the loneliness of an emotionally distant partner.

  • Don’t drink, but worry about a loved ones drinking.

  • Worried that you’ll always be alone as you keep meeting the same guy/girl different package.

If so, then I know you’ve tried everything and blamed yourself for being in this situation.

Because normally, you’re the kind of person who’s used to being in control.

You’re the fixer, the one who’s there for everyone else and their problems.

But this time you need someone to be there for you.

As a therapist and someone who’s been in all the above situations, I’ve helped women reclaim their self-worth and confidence and take back their lives from toxic relationships with love, wine or both.

By the time women find me, they’ve usually tried everything and life seems like an endless version of Groundhog Day.

It doesn’t have to be this way, because-

  • There’s more to life than walking on eggshells around silent treatment, verbal abuse and disappearing acts.

  • There’s more to life than, waiting for wine o’clock, promising yourself you’ll only have one, drinking the bottle or two and crashing out on the couch.

  • There’s more to life than, spending all your time, energy and money trying to get a loved one to change when they simply don’t want to.

  • There’s more to life than, going from one toxic relationship to another and hoping something will change.

You will lose yourself many times in life. And try to find yourself in all the wrong people and places. But when you turn round and face yourself, you will find the right path. The only path. You will find your way back home to you.

I help women get clear and focused on where they are in life, love or drinking. To make informed, intelligent decisions about whether to stay or go, take a break or stop drinking and how to stop lying awake at 4 am raking over the past or worrying themselves sick about the future.

I’ve worked with so many women over the years; the affluent, intelligent, confident and capable, the poverty-stricken, homeless, addicted, bankrupt and suicidal. All have been amazing, incredible people who have bounced back from the most tragic of circumstances. Most were brainwashed in childhood to believe they were too much, not enough and unlovable.  But one by one, all came to realise they were lied to. They came to believe they were powerful beyond measure. And they went on to live the lives they were meant to live, without apology, without shame, with their heads held high. They became warriors.

About me

I’m a therapist, coach and back in the day attracted to bad boys, addicts and hedonistic types.

I filtered out nice guys believing them to be boring and lack ‘chemistry’ which led me into not only one but two toxic relationships.

Suffering from anxiety and depression I sought solace in binge eating, drinking and beating myself up, which eventually led me to get therapy for my low self worth and belief that I was unlovable.

Always being a strong, determined and motivated person, I knew there was more to life and wanted to get myself back and stop losing myself in love and wine. I decided to go completely alcohol free, become assertive, stop taking BS and become more confident. And it worked. I can honestly say, I’ve never looked back.

Before escaping the rat race, I lived and worked in Glasgow, Scotland, working in Criminal Justice, Social Care and Mental Health and Addiction services. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Counselling and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Group work.

I’m a straight talking, down to earth, truth seeker who loves a good laugh and a bit of banter.

A recovering wild child, I’m now fairly introverted and like nothing more than wandering through the french countryside where I’ve live with my partner, for the last 11 years.

I’m a ferocious reader, a morning walker and a lover of tea, books and writing.

And get my biggest buzz from working with women like you.

I’d love t hear your story.
